Sachin Tendulkar's letter to BCCI to retire after 200th Test (Full Text)

There was intense pressure on Tendulkar to bid adieu to Test cricket after a prolonged form slump and particularly with the advent of a number of young players.Tendulkar's 200th Test match is most likely to be held at his home ground in Mumbai from November 14. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is also a contender for hosting that historic match.

Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has announced that he will retire from the Tests following his approaching 200th Test cricket match.

Full Text of his letter to BCCI

"All my life, I have had a dream of playing cricket for India. I have been living this dream every day for the last 24 years. It’s hard for me to imagine a life without playing cricket because it’s all I have ever done since I was 11 years old. It’s been a huge honour to have represented my country and played all over the world. I look forward to playing my 200th Test Match on home soil, as I call it a day.
I thank the BCCI for everything over the years and for permitting me to move on when my heart feels it's time! I thank my family for their patience and understanding. Most of all, I thank my fans and well-wishers who through their prayers and wishes have given me the strength to go out and perform at my best.

iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S to be launched on November 1

Apple Inc, the iconic smartphone-maker, today said its latest models, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, will go on sale in India just before Diwali. And as far as price is concerned, it remains hidden, but make sure your wallet is deep.

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be available in more than a dozen countries on November 1, including India and Mexico, Apple Inc said in a statement today, without revealing their prices.

 

 

 A contract-free and unlocked 16GB version of the iPhone 5C is available for USD 549 (about Rs 34,700) in the US, while an unlocked and contract-free iPhone 5S can be bought in the US for USD 649 (about Rs 41,000).

The iPhone 5S, which the California-based firm calls the the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world, and the iPhone 5C, the most colourful iPhone yet, will hit retailers in 25 countries, including Italy, Russia and Spain, from October 25, it added.

The Faces of Facebook is exactly what you think it would be. It's all of the faces of people on Facebook. That's right, all 1.27 billion members of the largest social network on the planet — all presented in the order that they joined.

The faces of facebook online app has scanned the public profile pictures of each member, which equates to one seventh of the Earth's population and its makers claim that if you were to browse all of them individually, it would take 36 years, 9 months, 6 hours, 46 minutes, 15 seconds.

While zoomed out, the site is a mess of randomized noise, a billion pixels squeezed into your monitor. But when you zoom in, each of those pixels gets resolved into a small face of a real person. It's an impressive piece of coding, pulling from the entire Facebook database. Unfortunately, the base pixel that's used to represent each person before their image comes in isn't actually linked to the color of the photo.
Another interesting side of this is the privacy implications. As developer Natalia Rojas puts it, "we are not breaking any Facebook privacy rules because we don't store anyone's private information, pictures or names." It's all just being pulled in using totally public information.

SHADOW: an app to remember and record your dreams

 There are currently 7 billion people in the world dreaming every night, but we hardly remember our dreams, let alone try and make sense of their patterns and how they relate to our well-being. SHADOW is an alarm clock that gradually wakes you up with escalating alarms. Once you’re done hitting snooze, the app prompts you to record what you remember of your dream either by speaking directly into the app or typing. The app then uploads all your data into a private dream journal that analyzes and visualizes your long-term dream patterns in hopes of delivering a better understanding of your dreaming self.
 
As a dreamer, you’ll have the choice to keep your dreams private, share them with friends or family, and push them to the cloud. If you choose to share, your dream joins an anonymous data cloud and SHADOW uses natural language processing algorithms and keyword recognition from your dream to identify global patterns. So while the exact details of your dream won’t be recorded, keywords like “black bike” “Berlin” and “Picasso” will.
